Jon Stewart Vs Fox News On Duck Flap

Another recap from Mediaite:
The Daily Show host took the opportunity to deliver a scathing take down of the “free speech absolutists” at Fox News. “Look, I think what the guy said is ignorant,” Stewart said, “but I also have an inclination to support a world where saying ignorant shit on television doesn’t get you kicked off that medium.” But does Fox News truly believe you shouldn’t “pressure people to have to adhere to cultural norms of speech?” This led to an epic “War on Christmas” montage, after which Stewart explained that Fox’s “belief in free speech doesn’t extend to the holidays where the word Christmas is mandatory.”

Bill O'Reilly: Robertson Shouldn't Judge

Mediaite recaps last night's show:
More than 24 hours after the news broke that A&E was suspending Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson over comments he made about homosexual sex, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly finally weighed in with his opinion on the matter. But unlike some other conservative commentators who defended Robertson, O’Reilly surprised his guest Laura Ingraham by going the other way and practically applauding A&E’s decision. “Mr. Robertson, I believe, made a mistake by the condemnation line,” O’Reilly said. “And here’s why. It’s not about the Bible, or believing or not believing in the Bible. It’s singling out a group, it could be anyone, and saying to that group, ‘Hey, you’re not worthy in the eyes of the lord… because of who you are.”

Fox Panel: Outrage About Phil Robertson

Mediaite recaps:
After showing a statement from Robertson regarding his homophobic remarks, Kelly turned to the panel, and right off the bat Bernard Whitman condemned Robertson’s “disgusting,” “really reprehensible” remarks and said he should get the boot. Arthur Aidala and Monica Crowley vehemently disagreed, and all three got in a heated back-and-forth about the free speech issues here. Aidala cried, “There’s something called the First Amendment!” Crowley called it a “classic example of the word police, political correctness.” Whitman shot back that Robertson has every right to say hateful things at “hate speech conventions” but remarks like that have no place in the public square. He said, “Our country’s not founded on hate.” Aidala shot back, “No, it’s founded on free speech!”
Bernard Whitman FTW.

Fox Reporter Defends Phil Robertson

Media Matters notes:
Starnes is one of Fox News' most rabid purveyors of homophobia. He has urged fans to donate to anti-gay hate groups, endorsed anti-LGBT business discrimination, promoted the conspiracy theory that President Obama is secretly gay, and blamed "heterophobic bigots" for the withdrawal of an anti-gay pastor from Obama's inaugural ceremony. While Starnes is keen to malign supporters of LGBT equality as "intolerant" "bigots," his history of hateful commentary exposes his virulent bigotry.
Not only does Starnes outright lie about many gay news items, the chickenshit blocked me from following him on Twitter because I kept calling him on it.

Ann Coulter To Sean Hannity: Liberalism Is On The Spectrum Of Mental Illness

Mediaite recaps:
Ann Coulter joined Sean Hannity Monday night to talk about liberal media hypocrisy in the politics of mass shooters. Coulter echoed sentiments made by Rush Limbaugh that most school shooters are “inspired” by leftism, and even went so far as to say “liberalism is on the spectrum of mental illness.” They were reacting to The Denver Post stealth-editing the word “socialist” the word “socialist” out of a profile for the Arapahoe shooter, saying this never would have happened if he was right-wing. Coulter said it’s always “crazy people” involved and on the left in particular, because “the left has a 200-year history of engaging in violence.”

Black Santa Appears On SNL

HomoQuotable - Andrew Sullivan

"It has been fascinating lately to watch Fox News go after the Pope for reiterating long-standing Catholic and Christian doctrine about the false god of materialism. By echoing Jesus’ insistence that you cannot know the kingdom of Heaven if you are bound up in wealth and possessions, the Pope drew charges of Marxism (which is anathema to Christians for the same reasons that unrestrained market capitalism is) and engaging in politics (from a channel that has long insisted that Christianity cannot and should not be relegated to the private sphere). [snip]

"When you absorb the constant racial undertones on Fox, and its constant worship of the god of money, when you absorb their long list of fears about the 'other', whether immigrants or gays or the poor, when you recall their glee at the torture of human beings, or their passion for the death penalty, you can’t help but wonder if they are not one of the most powerful forces against Christianity in our culture. They have competitors out there, but Roger Ailes is never satisfied with being Number Two, is he?" - Andrew Sullivan, writing for his blog.

Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly To Explain "White Santa/White Jesus" Remarks

Mediaite reports:
Friday evening on The Kelly File, Fox’s Megyn Kelly will address the controversy surrounding her Wednesday evening segment in which she declared that it is a “verifiable fact” that Santa Claus is white. The segment set off all kinds of reactions, from outrage to mockery to eye-rolls to scholarly analysis. Several media outlets noted how Kelly was absent from the anchor desk the next night, but her absence was unrelated to the Santa segment.
This should be interesting.

Fox News Anchor Megyn Kelly: Jesus Christ & Santa Claus Were Totally White

"By the way, for all you kids watching at home, Santa is white but this person is just arguing that maybe we should also have a black Santa. Santa is what he is and just so you know, we are debating this because someone wrote about it, kids. Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't mean it has to change. Jesus was a white man, too. He was a historical figure. That's a verifiable fact -- as is Santa. I just want the kids watching to know that." - Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly.

Fox Panel Argues Over War On Xmas

Mediaite recaps:
On Tuesday afternoon, the Fox News-led War on Christmas™ made its way into the studios of Fox News itself, with Gretchen Carlson, Catholic League president Bill Donohue, and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach tag-teaming American Atheists president David Silverman over some rather unique displays being put up in state capitals across the country; one a Satanist display, the other a Festivus pole made of beer cans. Carlson found them unbelievably offensive, asking, “Are we making a mockery of everything regarding Christianity in this society?” Boteach found it ridiculous and offensive, arguing that there is no imposition of religious worship in the United States, while Silverman argued it should never be the place for the government to take sides.
Also on the panel: Catholic League blowhard Bill Donohue.

Colorado Baker Tells Fox News: I'll Go To Jail Before Making A Gay Wedding Cake

Right wing sites continue to claim that the baker faces up to a year in jail for refusing to make a gay wedding cake. In fact, there are no criminal sanctions in any state for violating public accommodation laws and the baker faces only a fine. If he refuses to pay, he could eventually lose his business license.

O'Reilly: Mandela Was A Communist

RELATED: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Nelson Mandela's death yesterday was actually celebrated by the commenters on right wing sites such as Free Republic and Breitbart.
