Tony Perkins Celebrates

"The attacks on Phil Robertson revealed to the American people that the push to redefine marriage is less about the marriage altar than it is fundamentally altering America's moral, political and cultural landscape. A&E Network's reversal in the face of backlash is quite telling to the American people who are growing tired of GLAAD and cultural elites who want to silence people and remove God and His word from every aspect of public life.

"The goal of GLAAD is to silence anyone who dare challenge the idea that homosexuality is normal. However, the Robertson family's refusal to cower to GLAAD's bullying and the ensuing backlash to the suspension, unlike anything since Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, finally forced A&E Network to withdraw the suspension. We've also seen these intimidation tactics used against wedding florists, bakers, photographers who have been hauled into court, fined and even ordered to violate their religious beliefs by participating in same-sex weddings.

"Where is the fairness there? Where's the tolerance? There is none. This is why hundreds of thousands of Americans had enough and took a stand by signing petitions in support of Phil Robertson and the right of Christians to quote the Bible." - KKK-affiliated hate group leader Tony Perkins, via press release.

Tony Perkins: We Were Winners In 2013

"Dear Joe, With the end of the year right around the corner, FRC can look back and be proud of all we've accomplished in 2013. We took the Obama Administration on headfirst. We challenged its unconstitutional breaches into our lives. We fought back. And we are winning. The momentum is on our side and your support has never been more necessary. We will never back down in standing for advancing faith, freedom, and family. But the Obama Administration has unlimited resources and federal courts that are growing more supportive of its agenda with every passing day.

"We Need Your Help: Protect traditional family values. Fight for stronger religious liberty protections for those serving in the military. Force the Department of Justice to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act. Challenge the provisions of Obamacare that force Christians to violate their convictions and fund abortion. Joe, stand with FRC as we fight to uphold our values in the face of the Obama Administration and its relentless supporters." - KKK-affiliated hate group leader Tony Perkins, claiming to be a winner without actually having won a single battle in all of 2013.

Tony Perkins: Pray For Our Hate Group

"Dear Joe, Before you read another word, take a moment now to say a prayer for our nation and Family Research Council. Because of the radical, anti-Constitutional agenda of Barack Obama and the so-called Progressives, we are facing one of the greatest challenges in American history. Make no mistake about it, despite the debacle of ObamaCare, he will become more aggressive in his mission to strip you of your religious liberty and redefine the family. This past year President Obama has initiated several shocking efforts to strip Christian Americans of their First Amendment freedoms-especially religious freedom. He and his supporters believe that your faith should be legally confined within the walls of your church or the privacy of your home.

"In other words, there is no place in America for those who wish to live by and express their Christian faith in the workplace or in ANY 'public' space. Why? There can be no other allegiance to anything higher than the Federal Government. Those who disagree with the moral dictates of the government will be punished. So the president demands that same-sex 'marriage' be legalized, abortion on demand be funded by YOU, and that you and I support his redefinition of the family-or else face punishment." - KKK-affiliated hate group leader Tony Perkins, who closes with a promise to spend 2014 "compelling" the DOJ to enforce DOMA and fighting against the passage of ENDA.

FRC Fails With Military Bill

As I've reported several times this year, the Family Research Council has been pushing an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (a spending bill) which would have barred military commanders from taking disciplinary action against soldiers who abuse and harass gay soldiers on the basis of "sincerely held religious beliefs." Last night the Senate approved the NDAA, but it includes a very weakened version of the amendment originally backed by the FRC.

Here's the final language of the amendment:
"Unless it could have an adverse impact on military readiness, unit cohesion, and good order and discipline, the Armed Forces shall accommodate individual expressions of belief of a member of the armed forces reflecting the sincerely held conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs of the member and, in so far as practicable, may not use such expression of belief as the basis of any adverse personnel action, discrimination, or denial of promotion, schooling, training, or assignment."
As you can see, there are no real protections for those that abuse gay soldiers, but that hasn't stopped Tony Perkins from declaring victory.
I commend the overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress for protecting the right of service members to freely practice and express their faith. Congress acted appropriately after investigating numerous incidents involving service members who have had their careers threatened, and harassed simply for practicing their faith in a real and tangible way. The religious liberty violations have grown so frequent in recent years leading many service members to report being too fearful to share their faith.
The pro-gay Military Religious Freedom Foundation has taken great pleasure in pointing out that anti-gay groups like the FRC have suddenly changed their talking points. Go read their lengthy and very informative breakdown of how the amendment morphed from the extremely anti-gay House version into the compromise version approved yesterday.

Tony Perkins Defends Phil Robertson

"A&E's suspension of Phil Robertson shows Hollywood wants to avoid reality. The reality is that the Robertson family are Bible-believing Christians who don't cherry pick what the Bible teaches. Phil Robertson has been targeted simply because he expressed his religious beliefs but there is a clear double standard that is being applied. Nothing was done when homosexual activist Dan Savage screamed profanities at Christian high school students and called them 'pansy-(expletive deleted).' However, when Christians simply say homosexuality is wrong and they don't agree with it, there are demands that they be fired and silenced. It is time for all Americans to take a stand against the cultural elites who want to destroy the livelihood of people and remove God and His truth from every aspect of public life." - KKK-affiliated hate group leader Tony Perkins, in a statement published to the blog the Family Research Council.

CNN Hosts Hate Group Leader Tony Perkins For Polygamy Discussion

Carlos Maza writes for Equality Matters:
CNN allowed hate group leader Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), to baselessly accuse marriage equality of creating a slippery slope to polygamy after asking him whether the growing acceptance of homosexuality was to blame for the decriminalization of polygamous relationships in Utah. Once again, Perkins took CNN's bait, reveling in the opportunity to blame marriage equality for a decision that did not once mention same-sex marriage. CNN failed to inform its viewers about Perkins status as a hate group leader, his history of anti-LGBT extremism, or that his organization has a track record of being stunningly, embarrassingly wrong about predicting the consequences of LGBT equality. Instead, the network found it easier to let a hate group wax poetic about how the Supreme Court really made a mistake when it stopped letting states throw people in jail just for being gay.

Tony Perkins: Legalizing Homosexuality Has Led To Legalizing Polygamy

"Recognizing that their destinies are very much intertwined, polygamists are using the same playbook as their same-sex 'marriage' counterparts: Step one: overturn the law. Step two: demand recognition. Step three: force acceptance. Ten years ago, Justice Antonin Scalia predicted exactly that in Lawrence v. Texas, the Supreme Court decision rolling back sodomy statutes. With prophetic insight, he pointed to the threat to state laws 'based on moral choices' against 'bigamy, same-sex marriage, adult incest, prostitution... adultery, fornication, bestiality, and obscenity.' Anyone being intellectually honest knew this was where liberals were pushing America. Of course, the media for years laughed off groups like FRC who warned that the Left's goal isn't same-sex "marriage" but any kind of marriage." - Hate group leader Tony Perkins, via an email which complains the media is ignoring the Utah ruling because they're afraid of the gays.

Tony Perkins On Utah's Polygamy Ruling

"This decision is a real war on women and children as polygamy is a practice that has historically devalued the role of women and undermined the equality of a husband and wife that has become the standard in Western Civilization. The increasing awareness of the collateral cultural and religious carnage that accompanies the redefinition of natural marriage will cause the debate over same-sex marriage to intensify, not abate, despite the media's relative silence and homosexual activists increasing campaign of intimidation. The multiple bouquets that may be thrown as this decision was handed down, may very well give the American people the inspiration to push back against those redefining natural marriage and with it the very underpinnings of America as it has been known." - Hate group leader Tony Perkins, who is very upset that Utah has become the 50th state to legalize unmarried cohabitation.

Headline Of The Day

Media Matters notes that Louisiana's major newspapers have so far largely refused to report on hate group leader Tony Perkin's vile anti-gay history and his associations with white supremacist groups as he considers a run for the US House.
As he contemplates taking his extremist act to the halls of Congress, it appears that Perkins won't have to worry about Louisiana's top newspapers holding him accountable for his views. An Equality Matters analysis of five newspapers from the state reveals that most major papers have largely ignored his political ascendance, while others have whitewashed Perkins' extremism and hardly any have noted the FRC's hate group status or Perkins' record of inflammatory remarks. The five newspapers examined in Equality Matters' analysis have mentioned Perkins in a total of 29 articles in 2013. The Lafayette Daily Advertiser has not published a single article mentioning Perkins this year, while of the Alexandria Daily Town Talk's six articles featuring Perkins, all but one concerned his role as a trustee of Louisiana College. Of all the articles mentioning Perkins, a mere 10, or 34 percent, examined his political rise in the state. Articles in the New Orleans Times-Picayune and Baton Rouge Advocate have reported on Perkins' recent law enforcement commission appointment, his potential congressional run, and speculation earlier this year that he might challenge Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) in 2014. The Shreveport Times, Alexandria Daily Town Talk, and Lafayette Daily Advertiser completely ignored Perkins' appointment and political ambitions. Coverage of Perkins all too often ignores his and the FRC's rabid anti-LGBT views.

Perkins: OK, NOW We'll Start Winning

"Plenty of states have been processing down the same-sex marriage aisle. But according to pundits, that's all about to change.  Homosexual activists like to say that momentum is on their side. And until recently, they might have been right. Sixteen U.S. states now recognize a right to same-sex marriage. And unfortunately, the Left's success in places like Hawaii and Illinois have helped feed the lie in America that homosexual marriage is inevitable. But don't believe it, say experts. All we've witnessed lately is the Left taking advantage of easy targets. With the exception of West Virginia, none of the other 34 states are under Democratic control. That means the Left's toughest battles are yet to come. And in places like Indiana, the tide may already be turning. State liberals are rushing to play defense while a marriage protection amendment works its way to the statewide ballot. So be encouraged. Not all same-sex wedding bills are leading to wedding bells." - KKK-affiliated hate group leader Tony Perkins, speaking today on Christian radio.
